Our Vision!

We have a vision for our small community of Hyde Park, its what we call #ForHydePark

Bridge Builders Community Church has formed strategic relationships with other churches in Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie. These partnerships enable us to increase our reach into the community and foster healthy relationships in the Body of Christ. Joining churches like the Hyde Park Methodist Church for coats drives, Easter sunrise services and the Thanksgiving Community Dinner (feeding over 100 people). Partnering with the Hyde Park Baptist Church for joint Good Friday services and other community building events. Working with the Potter House in Poughkeepsie, holding a joint service during Christmas, helping man their Food Pantry and other community events. Holding a joint service with the AME Zion Church in Poughkeepsie as well aiding in their Christmas Toy Drive. All with the intention to help break down barriers between denominations and to engage in racial reconciliation. We are a small church who serves a big God.

Our Purpose – We exist to know God and love people

“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3

“But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:8

Our Vision – Building bridges that glorify God, transform lives and impact the world

“And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. (19) For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. (20) So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 2 Corinthians 5:18-20

Our Mission – Reaching people with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. (15) Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. (16)In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

Light shows the way out… that’s the power of the Gospel.

When God sent Jesus, it was a huge message of love; a message designed to reach us, our hearts and influence them, and move them back to a relationship with Father God. God by His very nature is a sending God. He is willing to reach people who need redemption with us… I find that so crazy of God, that He would extend His reach through our lives, our stories of faith.

In Luke 14: 18-19 we see just how Jesus intends on reaching the world He’s been sent to.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Jesus boldly declares how He’s going to reach mankind…by proclaiming Good News, by proclaiming liberty, by helping people see again…see their way out of darkness…out of the prisons that hold them captive. Jesus was announcing that the favor of God was here, right now, to redeem them.

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” John 20:21

So when we talk about reaching Hyde Park… it’s where God has asked us to infiltrate and help people who are trapped in darkness. We are to be light in the places where God is sending us.

How do you reach a city? One person at a time… by doing good!

1 conversation, 1 connection, 1 opportunity at a time… reaching one heart at a time

In Acts, 10:38 it states that Jesus went around doing good.

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and because God was with him, he went around doing good and healing everyone who was oppressed by the devil.

REACH, such a powerful word, it’s an action word and it means…

  • To touch or grab hold on by stretching out or expanding
  • To establish communication
  • To succeed in influencing, impressing or stirring up interest

We want to touch the lives of others, we want to communicate in a way that influences them, that stirs their heart towards the Messiah, and in order to do that…we’ll need to stretch and expand.

I’m not talking about growing Bridge Builders, We’re not trying to build a church… Jesus said He would build His church… We want to see more people enter the Kingdom; become dedicated disciples following Jesus with all they have. We want to see people free and out of darkness.
